Murder On The Orient Express

Agatha Christie is often referred to as the queen of murder mysteries. And she truly deserves that title, since she has written countless number of masterpieces which have never failed to enthusiast the reader.

Her masterpieces include books such as And Then There Were None, The ABC Murders, The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd, etc.

And today, in this article, we are going to talk about one such gem of a book written by Agatha Christie. Its name is Murder On The Orient Express.

One of Agatha Christie's most sold book, this book is often regarded as one of the 3 best books ever written by Agatha Christie (the other 2 are The Murder Of Roger Ackroyd and And Then There Were None).

Here is a short overview of the book :

The plot of the book takes place in a train named Orient Express. Hercule Poirot, the world famous Belgian detective is one his way to London aboard the Orient Express. He is forced to ride in a second class cabin because the train is unusually full. But during the journey a co-passenger approaches Poirot and informs Poirot that his life is in danger. Later during the journey, the train gets stranded in a snow storm and the man, who had confided with Poirot, is found murdered in his cabin. But the murderer is trapped in the train due to the snow storm and cannot escape. Will Hercule Poirot, without any help from the outside world, catch the murderer before it is too late and the murderer strikes again ?

With such a marvelous plot , the book is bound to be one of the best of Christie's .The book is abundant with great moments. With each new revelation, the case only gets more and more confusing. Each and every single person, even the conductor, has an undeniable alibi. But if all are innocent, then who committed the murder ? The book owes its success to such twists and turns present in the story.

But however big the twists and turns are, the book will always owe its biggest success to the solution of the mystery. Because this book has one of the weirdest and most mind blowing solution which you can expect from a murder mystery.

The only problem which I had with this book was that it seemed to get a little boring around the middle of the story. Its because the book is just full of interviews. Interviews with the passenger, interview with the conductor, interview with the doctor, again an interview with the passengers and so on. And even though the interviews did reveal new clues, but it seemed to get boring and repetitive.

But be assured, however boring the interviews are, if you give this book a try, if you read it just once, , then I am damn sure that you will be completely blown away at the end. The reason I am saying this is because the culprit is someone whom I did not expect even in the wildest of dreams .

So there you go...

If I had to summarize my opinions in one or two sentences, then I would say-

" The book has a great plot and the setting of the plot is brilliant. The book is exciting in the beginning, but gets a little boring around the middle but then, it goes on to completely blow away the reader's mind at the end. "

Be sure to give this book a try since each and every person has different tastes and likes different kinds of books. And who knows... maybe you will like this book even more than I did !

And since you are a fan of Agatha Christie I will presume that you had probably read one or more of Agatha Christie's books before reading this one. So I will also assume that you had at least a little idea about what to expect from this book and its plot... BUT WHAT ABOUT ME ? Important chemical compounds for Class 10

Chemistry is a subject which never fails to annoy students, But we are here to provide short notes about some compounds which are very important from chemistry's point of view. So ,without any further ado... LETS GET STARTED  !!! SODIUM CHLORIDE:- white crystalline solid insoluble in alcohol pure NaCl is not hygroscopic.it is hygroscopic due to impurities. used in 'salting' out of soap and making freezing mixtures. SODIUM HYDROXIDE:- prepared by chlor-alkali process. It is generally formed near cathode. It is deliquescent in nature. It is a white crystalline solid. It is corrosive It is sparingly soluble in alcohol. However, KOH is fairly soluble in alcohol. On exposure to atmosphere, it absorbs CO2 and forms sodium carbonate carbon monoxide is neutral but it shows acidic nature with NaOH sodium hydroxide break down protein to a pasty mass it is also called soda lye. SODIUM CARBONATE:- most important chemical of commercial use. Na2CO3.H2O is also known as crystal carbonat
